The training will take part in the UK, inviting partners from Georgia, Belarus, Armenia, Greece and Romania.
The intention is to introduce these Eastern European countries to partners in order to promote the possibilities
of YiA projects in a country that is neighbouring to the EU.
This training will focus on the nature of youth work and its history in diverse heritages.
Young people of fewer opportunities will be directly involved and will give account of their experiences of being
affected by disadvantages to give a real experience and understanding of the importance to focus on this target group
of young people.
This TC will:
– introduce non-EU countries (Belarus, Armenia, Georgia) as a viable partners .
– demonstrate how to use innovative methods to attract, engage and work with young people of fewer
opportunities across Europe, but also specifically concentrating on those from Eastern EU countries,
particularly focusing on Belarus.
Working methods – Each session will start with a whole-group presentation by an expert speaker, followed by
small group workshops to discuss the topic. The groups will be carefully arranged to give a mix of YiA
specialists, existing partners and new contacts, therefore ensuring a wide-ranging learning opportunity for all.
Non-formal learning will take place in and out of workshop sessions through interaction of participants, but also
by visiting local establishment who’s work directly relates to the TC theme and content.
As inclusion is part of the priorities in this training we are taking great care to engage young people directly in this
training and are inviting particularly young people of fewer opportunities, of who some of them either work within the
youth work field or are part of the applicant local volunteer base.
This will actively engage young people in the process of youth work within YiA following the current EU youth strategy:
An EU Strategy for Youth – Investing and Empowering.
Methodology will mix theoretical and practical learning sessions. Working methods will be interactive and
participants’ active involvement will be stimulated by trainer/facilitators throughout the course.
Questions, groups and individual works, sharing and brainstorming activities will be used to reassure
better concepts’ understanding and assimilation.
More specifically, the methodology will consist of:
1) Enriched lectures
2) Group discussions and reflections
3) Action methods (workshop teaching mode)
4) Peer exchange of good practices
5) Interactive sessions
