The youth exchange project “Taste the success” will be held in the South east part of Slovenia,
close to the city of Maribor, in a small village called Žetale, from 24 July to 1 August, 2013.
The groups will be composed of 4 youngsters between the age of 18 and 25 and a group leader.
Self-initiative of EU citizens and opportunities that they have within the existing system
will be encouraged through the project.
Our main goal is to stress two important components of European citizenship: development of
entrepreneurship and importance of active paticipation within the process of creation of
European political future. Participants will get aware of the mentioned components through
workshops from enterprise idea to its practical realization, based on PR, design, atmosphere
and product sale. In addition to this the working program combines several processes: through
workshops, presentations, discussions, cultural evenings, integration games and excursions,
the participants will learn what they have in common as well as understand the significance
of the diversity of European cultures.
Entrepreneurship will be supported through workshops which will encourage the establishment of
a business. Within the workshop »Vote for food« two teams of youngsters will have the goal to
open an open air restaurant. At the final event each restaurant will offer meals to the local
inhabitants leading to the selection of the best entrepreneur group. The restaurants will be
exclusively made out of natural and recycled materials in order to show the participants the
importance of those and their advantages.
The development of EU political future will be addressed with a comparison to the creation of
a open air restaurant, where “two parties” will be convincing the voters (guests) with their own
advantages. This way we will bring a closer insight of the elections to the people as they would
realize the real meaning of those and would find out that they actually can influence changes.
Along with this framework, citizens’ self initiative will be encouraged within the exchange,
presenting possibilities available to citizens within the existing system. The high point of
the event will be the final day of the event when basing on the two restaurants, the party that
gathered the most votes will be elected showing true simulation of EU elections.
Following the set framework, outdoor activities such as group sport games, hiking and games
without borders will be included in the program make the time spent in the nature more active
and to call out the matters of team spirit and active lifestyle.
Participating Countries: Slovenia, Malta, Greece, Poland and France.
